The premier release of the week is, the Vikramjit Singh directed Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer, ROY.
The other major venture was the Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insan project MSG.
As we had speculated in our box-office report, the Ranbir Kapoor star power along with the massive popularity of the chart scorcher, ‘Sooraj Dooba Hai’ ensured a good start for ROY, especially at the multiplexes (50 percent on an average).
While the opening day numbers are going to be one of the best of 2015 (if not the best!), the film needs to capitalize on that and put up an impressive weekend total to be a winner.
One feels that it just may!
The other release of the same week, MSG: THE MESSENGER, surprised with quite a fair start, more so in North India (Delhi-NCR and East Punjab), where a lot of disciples of Guruji checked out the film at the cinemas.
The film also showed a marked improvement during the latter shows.
Concluding with Balki’s Amitabh Bachchan starrer, SHAMITABH, the film struggled after a decent weekend (14-15 crore) and ended up netting in the range of 18-20 crore during the opening week from India, which is a below par performance.
