Salman Khan, the box office baadshah of Bollywood, deposed in a sessions court for hearing in the infamous 2002 hit and run case in Mumbai this morning.
Prior to the hearing, Sallu Bhai requested the judge to ban the media against the reporting of his recording. Obliging his request, the judge ordered the scribes not to cover it live but only to report after Salman's recording was completed.
During his recording, Salman pleaded his innocence and said that he was not driving the car at the time of the accident and that his driver, Ashok Singh, caused the harrowing mishap. Salman also said that he was not drunk at that time and that he even possessed a valid driving license those days. The accident resulted in a tragic death of a person sleeping on the pavement and four others injured seriously.
Following the witnesses turning hostile, the sessions court in 2013 had decided to proceed the trial on Salman Khan with charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder under section 304 (II), causing hurt to persons by act endangering personal safety (Section 337) ,causing death of one person by negligent driving (Section 279), causing damage to property (Section 427), and under Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 and Bombay Prohibition Act, 1949.
